Flexible Alternative Provision
Targeted SEND and alternative provision built around the individual learner. KCL provides flexible Alternative Provision for children and young people who need additional support to engage with education. Programmes can be commissioned as short-term interventions, part-time Alternative Provision, or longer-term personalised placements, depending on the learner's needs and intended outcomes.

Four routes, matched to how much support is needed.
Every package starts from the learner's current situation and intended outcome, not from a fixed offer.
Targeted Intervention
Time-limited support for learners who are struggling to engage with their current education. Programmes can focus on regulation, confidence, attendance, engagement and re-establishing positive learning routines.
Part-Time Alternative Provision
Flexible programmes delivered alongside a learner's existing school or education package. Learners can attend KCL for agreed sessions each week, combining education with practical, creative and therapeutic activities.
Longer-Term Alternative Provision
Personalised programmes for learners who require a more sustained alternative to their current educational setting. Learning can include Functional Skills, vocational learning, the AQA Unit Award Scheme and Arts Award, alongside life skills, wellbeing and preparation for adulthood.
Reintegration & Transition
Where appropriate, KCL works towards a planned next step. This may include returning to school, increasing mainstream attendance, moving into further education or training, or progressing to another suitable education pathway.
How we engage learners
Farm, animals, arts and sport are routes into education.
These activities provide meaningful ways to build relationships, confidence, communication and engagement, while academic and vocational learning is integrated into the learner's individual programme.

Built around the learner, not a template.
Each programme is built around the learner's starting point, needs and intended outcomes. Progress is reviewed throughout the placement and can be shared with the referring school, local authority or other professionals involved.

Accreditation used where it helps a learner.
Functional Skills, vocational learning, the AQA Unit Award Scheme and Arts Award sit alongside life skills and wellbeing — used where they genuinely support the plan, not as a default.
