Support for parents & carers
When your neurodiverse child isn't being met by the system, you're not alone.
KCL supports neurodiverse children and young people who find it hard to access education, assessment, or progression in the usual way. Whether your child is autistic, ADHD, awaiting diagnosis, or experiencing anxiety, school avoidance, or sensory overwhelm — we work to make learning, assessment, and progression feel possible again.
Learning that meets your child where they are.
A calm route forward
Our approach is calm, accessible, and built around your child.
Every neurodiverse child we support is different. Some are anxious, some are sensory-sensitive, some have lost confidence after difficult experiences with school or formal assessment. We take time to understand your child — academically, emotionally, and sensorially. Support and assessment are structured, predictable, and responsive, so children feel safe enough to engage and show what they can do.

Three ways to learn
We come to your child — online, at home, or at the Denham school site.

01 · Wherever the learner is
Online
Wherever the learner is
Live, tutor-led sessions and accessible assessments delivered remotely with the same structure, pacing, and safeguarding as in-person provision. Suited to learners who cannot consistently access a physical setting.
02 · In the family environment
At home
In the family environment
Tutors and assessors meet the learner in the home, where the surroundings already feel safe. Used as an entry point for learners who have withdrawn from school or where travel adds significant strain.

03 · Our specialist centre in Denham
The Denham Site
Our specialist centre in Denham
Calm, low-arousal assessment and learning spaces, alongside the Eco Classroom and farm environment. Small-group and one-to-one delivery, with therapeutic, functional, and qualification routes side by side.
Common questions
Questions parents often ask.
There's no requirement to have a diagnosis, EHCP, or referral in place to contact us.
- 01
What age groups do you support?
KCL supports neurodiverse learners across primary and secondary, including Key Stages 1–4, plus preparation for post-16 progression. Provision is tailored to individual needs rather than age alone.
- 02
What is your approach to learning and assessment?
Our approach is specialist, accessible, and therapeutically informed. We design assessment and teaching to fit how neurodiverse learners actually engage, process, and demonstrate learning — rather than expecting learners to fit a standard format.
- 03
Do you offer learning alongside school attendance?
Yes. We offer supplementary learning, assessment, and progression support that runs alongside school attendance, as well as alternative provision placements for learners who cannot access mainstream consistently.
- 04
Who is your provision suitable for?
Neurodiverse learners — including autistic and ADHD profiles — who experience anxiety, sensory or emotional barriers, disengagement, school avoidance (EBSA), emerging or identified SEND, or disrupted education.
- 05
What does 'accessible assessment' actually mean?
It means assessment is designed around the learner's communication, sensory, and regulation needs — flexible in format, pacing, and environment — and used to inform an ongoing pathway, not as a one-off test.
- 06
How are placements planned and reviewed?
Placements are planned collaboratively with families, schools, and local authorities, and reviewed regularly to ensure the pathway, assessment, and progression goals remain appropriate.
- 07
Do you support transitions and progression?
Yes. We support reintegration into school, transitions between key stages, movement from AP back into mainstream, and preparation for post-16, college, training, and supported routes toward independence.
- 08
I'm not sure which pathway is right — can you help?
Absolutely. Our team works with families and professionals to identify the most appropriate assessment, support, and progression route. We're always happy to talk through needs and options.
Parent voices
Before working with KCL, my child had completely disengaged from learning due to anxiety. The calm, consistent approach helped rebuild trust and confidence. We've seen gradual but meaningful progress.
The support was thoughtful and well structured. My child now feels more able to manage learning and assessment without becoming overwhelmed — that has had a positive impact at home and at school.
The placement was well planned and reviewed regularly. KCL worked collaboratively and kept education and progression central while supporting emotional and sensory needs.
